Eligible countries and Not Eligible (Ineligible) countries are very important for the DV 2022 draw in this year. American Green card lottery allows participants to enter in the draw if their birth happened in any of the eligible country. Eligible country names may or may not change each year according to countries immigration pattern to the USA. The US State Department will decide which countries are eligible to participate after a unique calculation of those countries immigration pattern for the last 5 years to the USA. People born in not eligible countries will not be allowed to participate in the DV 2022 draw. Even if they try to apply for the draw, they won't find their birth country name in the drop down menu.
Department of State used to publish the eligible country list every year before the beginning of the green card draw. Eligible country names together with the ineligible country names will be published after some special calculation on the arrival of immigrants to the U.S.A from each country.
Those country natives who had arrived in to the USA in less number (50,000) within the last 5 years period are allowed to participate in this draw. Those who were born in an eligible country and currently living in another country or holding the new country's PR or passport too are eligible to participate. But the person must meet the other requirements such as education, work experience and medical fitness.

Equally unattainable were the lotteries of European countries, such as the Spanish El Gordo or the Italian Lotto or the Eurojackpot. Or by check from the lottery commission of the country. Persons born in following countries were not allowed to participate in the DV 2022 Green card draw. BANGLADESH, Brazil, Canada, China (mainland-born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam. Persons born in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Taiwan are eligible to participate in this green card lottery.
Claiming and participating in the program for ineligible country born people.
Neither of your parents was born there or resided there at the time of your birth, you may claim nativity in one of your parents' countries of birth, if it is a country whose natives are qualifying for the draw.
If you were born in an ineligible country and your spouse was born in an eligible country, you can participate in the program claiming your spouse country for the eligibility. If you had been selected as a winner calming your spouse country for eligibility, you must take your spouse too along with you when arriving in to the USA, as you will not be allowed to enter alone in to the USA under this program.
Why the draw doesn't allow some country natives from participating in this draw?
Because within the last 5 year period, these countries had sent more than 50,000 people to the USA and this number of people is enough to maintain their diversity over there. So these country born people are not allowed to submit their applications for the Green Card lottery.
Green Card Lottery and the Africa Region Countries.
Years back the entire African nations were allowed to participate in this draw. Recently Nigeria had been listed in the ineligible country list as this country had sent more than 50,000 immigrants within the last 5 year period. So the natives of Nigeria were not allowed to participate in the visa name selection draw. Nigerians must wait till more months to see whether they are allowed to participate in the current DV 2022 draw or not. In the year 2016, Ecuador natives were found to be eligible to participate in the DV 2018 Green Card program.
DV-2020 American Visa Lottery Program was closed on 30th September 2020.

As per the last year eligible country list under the DV 2022 Green card draw, no new countries were added to the eligible country list or removed from the eligible country list. So the people born in Nigeria and Bangladesh were not be allowed to participate in the draw DV 2022.
