SETUP

The roulette table comes built-in with the spinning apparatus. Cash or casino chips are placed as bets within the gridlines drawn on the table. The wheel is spun, and a marker ball is dropped in to clearly mark the final outcome.

GAMEPLAY

Players place their bets on the respective areas of the table marking their bets. Once all bets have been made the croupier spins the wheel and drops a marker ball into the wheel pocket. The dealer then pays out all winning bets and collects losing bets.

These are the bets that you can make when playing roulette.

OUTSIDE BETS

Outside bets are also known as even-money bets. These bet on odds rather than a specific outcome. The outside bets you can make include Red/Black, Odd/Even, High/Low, Columns, and Dozen.

INSIDE BETS

Inside bets are bets placed on the numbered squares of the table. There are 8 bets here – Straight Up, Split, Street, Corner, Line, Five-Number Bet, Basket, and Snake Bet.

CALL BETS

Call bets are only available for the French and European tables. These bets are called out to the dealer and not placed on the table, as with conventional roulette bets. There are 5 options here – Voisins du Zero, Jeu Zero, Tiers du Cylindre, Orphelins, and Neighbors. The Neighbors bet can be paired with any of the other 4 available bet options.

VARIATIONS

FRENCH ROULETTE

French roulette is played with a 37-pocket wheel, with a single, green “0” pocket. The gameplay includes two additional rules – “en prison” and “la partage”.

EN PRISON

American And European Roulette

This rule is open to strictly even-money bets. Should the wheel land on a zero, the player is presented with two move options :

  • Forfeit the round and claim half their bet.
  • Leave the bet “en prison”, or frozen until the next spin. The bet then becomes an all-or-nothing, requiring the outcome to match the imprisoned bet. Should the wheel stop at “0” again, the player loses his bet.

LA PARTAGE

American Roulette Layout

La partage is also applicable to even-money bets. In this rule, any player with an outside bet is compensated with half their bet value, whenever the wheel stops at “0”.

ADDITIONAL REGIONAL RULES

  • Netherlands – Consecutive “0” spins allow bets to apply the “en prison” rule twice.
  • France – There is an “even-chances rule” that allows players to again bet for the same color, whenever the wheel lands on a green “0”.

EUROPEAN ROULETTE

European Roulette Odds

European roulette is also played with a 37-pocket wheel. The rules and odds are the same as French roulette. However, the layout of the betting grid is different. As for the “la partage” and “en prison” rules, these are offered at the discretion of the house for this variation.
